Waterjet Cutting

A world of waterjet cutting possibilities

Our waterjet glass cutting service can be scaled to all kinds of projects, from single sheets to large bulk orders. We use waterjet cutting to create cut-outs for patch fittings, sockets in glass splashbacks, and to create complex shapes. In addition to waterjet and CNC glass cutting and shaping capabilities, we can also toughen or laminate your glass for added safety.

We are trusted suppliers to glass manufacturers and retailers specialising in furniture, bathrooms, glass balustrades, glass splashbacks, and more. With over 20 years’ experience in the trade, we pride ourselves on impeccable customer service and fast turnaround times.

Cutting edge technology

We use a state-of-the-art Intermac Primus Water Jet cutting machine in tandem with digital DXF files. The Intermac is capable of cutting almost any material, from glass to marble, in a range of thicknesses. It allows our in-house specialists to cut highly complex and intricate glass shapes that would be difficult to achieve by hand-cutting or using our CNC machines.

As well as being extremely precise, waterjet cutting leaves a very neat, smooth, and flat edge to the glass. Common applications for waterjet-cut glass include patch fittings, splashbacks, balustrades, glass interior doors, glass partitions, glass floors, and stair treads.

What is waterjet cutting?

Water jet cutting combines an extremely high-pressure water jet with an abrasive substance called garnet. It is a great way to achieve a clean and accurate cut for more complex glass shapes and is a favoured method of the abc Glass team.

Waterjet vs CNC cutting

Waterjet glass cutting is faster than CNC cutting and allows us to create more complex shapes. It can cut sharp internal corners, acute angles, and small cut-outs. However, CNC cutting offers a greater range of different edge finishes. Waterjet cutting can only produce a smooth arrised edge to the glass.

In short, CNC machines can do much of what waterjet machines do but cannot match its extremely fine level of detail.

Ordering and delivery

We require customers to supply either a DXF file or a hardboard template. With hardboard, our team can simply scan the template and convert it into a DXF file.

Lead times for our waterjet cutting service vary depending on complexity, order size, and type of glass. That said, we can usually deliver your order in as little as seven to 14 days. We deliver to customers in the south of England including Hampshire, Sussex, Dorset, and Surrey. We also offer pick-up from our Portsmouth factory
